Jake's Story (#353 of 365+)

“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21)

It was definitely a miracle from God.

Joni told the story about how her team was in Poland and they almost ran out of wheelchairs to give away when a father carried in his five-year-old handicapped son on his back. Luckily there was one child-size wheelchair left. She said the wheelchair was unusual from the start because it was “highly customized” but it fit the boy perfectly as if it was specifically designed for him. In addition, someone had inexplicably stitched the name “Jake” across the backing. It didn’t make sense until the interpreters asked the parents what the boy’s name was. Imagine everyone’s surprise when the name on the wheelchair matched the name of the boy! His name was Jakob! The Lord must have meant for that wheelchair to go to little Jake all along…

Scores of people accepted Jesus Christ as their savior that day.

Lord, your plans are so much better than my own. When things don’t go my way, remind me of that so my disappointment doesn’t become a stumbling block. I’m sorry for not being more grateful. Thank you for always being so good to me. Amen.
