The Owls (#220 of 365+)

“Give me a sign of your goodness… for you, O LORD, have helped me and comforted me” (Psalm 86:17)

Joni said at the end of one particular day she felt “empty, dry, and
bone weary.” She whispered a quick prayer that the Lord would touch her in a special way. What she didn’t expect was for him to bring three gorgeous great-horned owls—two babies and their mother—into view from her bedroom window!

She called them “his emissaries of encouragement.”

The Lord has caught my attention like that several times in my life when I was feeling especially down. It never fails: One moment I’m in a rut and the next I’m back on track. He is swift to act in my moment of need, even when I haven’t realized there is a need yet. It’s just another sign of his immense love and tender care for those who belong to him.

Lord, thank you for caring enough to show yourself to me in new and surprising ways. Amen.

An encouragement, a simple prayer, or a pithy observation... I would appreciate hearing from you. May God richly bless your day! ~Joanna
