He Speaks to Me Everywhere (#192 of 365+)

“You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11)

One day as Joni was grocery shopping with a friend she spotted an
ugly opo squash under a sign that said “Exotic Produce.” Joni also saw an Asian pear that was large, misshapen, and speckled. She had never eaten one before so they decided to buy it.

When Joni bit into that sweet, juicy fruit she exclaimed, “O taste and see that the Lord is good!”

I can totally relate to her experience. I like Asian pears but my favorite fruit for all time is a ripe persimmon. It was long ago, but I think I did a happy dance the first time I ate one!

God created those Asian pears and persimmons for our enjoyment. He also created many other things I have yet to try. Today Joni encouraged her readers to realize when God introduces a new experience—whether it’s a sight, smell, sound, or taste—we should seize that opportunity to see our Creator from a different angle. It will give us another reason, and probably even a fresh new way, to praise him.

“Sing to the LORD a new song” (Psalm 96:1)

Lord, may my spiritual eyes remain open so I am constantly reminded of your grace everywhere I go. Amen.
