Cowboys in Wheelchairs (#212 of 365+)

“Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2)

Joni told a story about a couple of boys after they spent a week
volunteering with their parents at a Family Retreat for the disabled. They were playing with Lego® building blocks and decided to make a western town for cowboys and Indians who rode wheelchairs instead of horses. Every building (the store, the stable, and even the jail!) had ramps leading up to it. She was touched how little boys who didn’t need wheelchairs were creatively thinking about ways they could help others as they built their town.

Here’s praying they come to know Christ at an early age and grow up into men whose hearts still “carry other’s burdens.” May the Lord bless them richly when they put others before themselves as they build their families, churches, and businesses...

“Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ's law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived” (Galatians 6:2-3 MSG)

Lord, you know the people in my life who are disabled or disadvantaged. Use my family to touch those lives with your extravagant love. Make us more willing to share our time and ability without regards to convenience, cost, or appreciation. And help us as we try to be faithful stewards of everything we’ve already received from your generous hand. Thank you for all of it. Amen.
