An Answer for Loneliness (#216 of 365+)

“Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted” (Psalm 25:16)

Have you ever felt like you were all alone in your suffering? That
you were the only one going through it and no one could understand your pain?

“God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you’” (Hebrews 13:5)

But you’re not alone. God is right there with you. Like a good friend, he will listen to your problems and speak words of comfort and encouragement. That is, if you’re willing to acknowledge his presence and lean on him...

“You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry” (Psalm 10:17)

After you realize God is really there and you start to feel better about your situation, ask him what you can do to help someone else. There’s always someone out there who has it a lot worse than you do. Take your mind off your own problems for a moment and think about how you can help him or her. Whatever you do—lend a hand, offer prayer or encouragement, or give a gift—God will surely bless it.

Go ahead. Ask God what you can do for someone else today. And watch how it has a positive impact on you.

“First seek the counsel of the LORD” (1 Kings 22:5)

Lord, show me people who feel all alone today. Give me the grace to help them in a substantial way. May they feel your presence and love. Amen.
