God's Wedding Ring (#29 of 365+)

There are numerous times the Old Testament foreshadows Jesus Christ. The story of Abraham and Isaac on Mount Moriah is one such example. Abraham had faith that God would provide a lamb
for the burnt offering but he was willing to be obedient and do whatever God required of him. He told his son that God would provide himself a lamb. When Abraham saw the ram caught in the thicket he offered it up to God as a burnt offering. “So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide” (Genesis 22:14). The ram God provided was the foreshadowing of the promised Messiah. Jesus Christ was God’s provision, “the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).

My wedding ring is a reminder of my husband’s vows to me and our marriage covenant. In much the same way, Jesus Christ is our promise from God that, when we enter into a relationship with him, he will always be with us and provide for our needs.

Lord, your love is astounding! Thank you for providing for all my present and future needs. Thank you for being faithful to all your promises. Amen.
