The Rose of Sharon (#256 of 365+)

“I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys” (Song of Songs 2:1)

Joni said it best but I’m going to shorten the paragraphs into a couple of sentences: “Nothing is more beautiful than the gradual
unfolding of a rosebud into its fully glory… When I consider the way God [revealed] his glory to us, I picture a rose… unfurled petal by petal [until] the glory of God was fully revealed, and his name was Jesus.”

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14)

Dear Lord, a rose will eventually wilt and lose its petals but your splendor will always remain. I cherish every bit of knowledge that you’ve unveiled to me during these devotionals and also at times when I least expected anything. I know I haven’t seen the fullness of your glory yet but the best is yet to come! Come soon, Lord Jesus. Amen.
