“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit… This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples”
(John 15:5, 8)
Bearing “much fruit” is the natural condition of a soul who has been made alive by the Holy Spirit and believes in Jesus Christ. But what exactly does this “fruit” look like? Joni said it’s when the seeds of faith I’ve sown into others and watered with prayer start “flowering” and “ripening.”
The apostle Paul cultivated much fruit in Philippi. He led many to Christ and helped them form a church where they could continue to receive nourishment and grow in their faith. He called them his “joy and crown” (Philippians 4:1).
I have the awesome privilege to sow seeds of faith into little children during an upcoming 10-week summer Bible program. It’s a big responsibility so I’m going to drench everything and everyone in prayer—especially myself. I don’t want anything to prevent those precious little minds and hearts from learning and receiving God’s truth.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” (Galatians 6:9-10)
Lord of the vineyard, I want to bear much fruit to the Father’s glory. Help me as I invest my life in others. They are my crown! Amen.
