A Word from Ken (#280 of 365+)

“Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together” (Psalm 34:3)

On the occasion of their wedding anniversary Joni’s husband, Ken, wrote the devotional. He said, “One would think a feeling of togetherness would occur
over a candlelight dinner or a romantic vacation. But… the sense of being together is never stronger than when you are in the trenches with a loved one battling a common enemy side by side. Stressful situations can bring us closer together.”

His wife had recently survived a bout with pneumonia. He stayed with her in the hospital every night to help her to cough and breathe. He said in all their years of marriage they had “never” been “more together” than during that difficult time.

“And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit” (Ephesians 2:22)

Lord, as Joni’s husband prayed, also give my husband and I the grace and wisdom to not allow affliction, disappointment, or any other thing to separate us. May we grow and be built up “together” for your glory. Amen.
