I’m Full (#300 of 365+)

This is my 300th daily devotional since I made the commitment last September to do this. Joni Eareckson Tada’s book, “Pearls of Great Price,” has been a tremendous resource to me over the past ten months. It kept me
grounded in the Word every day with its hope-filled messages and inspiring stories from Joni’s own experiences.

Very soon I will need to find another devotional aide. I haven’t decided yet whether I will buy another book by Joni or a different author. I might just use a Bible-reading plan with the goal of getting through the Bible in one year. I’ve never done that before. Whatever I choose, I do know that I want to follow something only temporary from September through December before starting fresh with a new book or a reading plan on January 1, 2011. I can’t allow myself to return to my old ways, back when I was spiritually withering away and starved for God’s Word. My life is much more fulfilling lately—and I feel stronger—now that God is “filling” my mind and heart with good things.

Here are the verses Joni provided that I will meditate on throughout this day:

“He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD” (Deuteronomy 8:3)

“Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Psalm 73:25-26)

“Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty’” (John 6:35)

Lord, help me today to remember that only you can satisfy my hunger. Amen.
