An Ever-Present Help (#226 of 365+)

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1)

When Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, the thick temple
veil that symbolized man’s separation from God was torn from top to bottom.

God’s gift of grace is hard to describe in words. It’s better than a free ticket and a backstage pass to the concert of a lifetime! I once heard someone compare it to the access JFK Jr. had to the President of the United States when he was a little boy. He could bypass the secret service and enter the Oval Office at any time. Even if his father was in the middle of top-secret meetings with important government officials the little boy would be able to stay and play underneath the president’s desk. His presence was always welcome and greeted with smiles all around.

God’s free gift, made possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, gives every one of us unlimited access to the Father. We can freely approach the Creator of Heaven and Earth at any time without an appointment. He’s always available and accessible, and he invites us to become a child and heir of his kingdom. When we put our faith in him we will receive eternal life. The best thing about eternal life is that it’s eternal. He will never leave us nor forsake us. What are you waiting for? Won’t you accept God’s free gift... today?

Father, thank you for your gifts: your beloved son, Jesus Christ, and your ever-present life-giving Holy Spirit. I truly would be lost without You. Amen.
