“Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some” (1 Corinthians 9:22 NLT)
Joni shared an amazing story from her trip to Havana, Cuba. She found
herself in a situation where she was alone with two female doctors and a disabled woman. She felt the Holy Spirit was prompting her to sing the only gospel song she knew in Spanish. After she did, the door to the gospel swung wide open. One of the doctors inquired and then the other one—who happened to be a Christian!!!—got out her Bible and began to happily and excitedly share the good news with her.
In today’s devotional, Joni encouraged her readers to “take that first step of faith” and “break the inertia.” We shouldn’t be afraid to “go beyond the program” or think “outside-the-box.” It’s never a good time to be complacent when there are souls at stake.
Father, as the FFH song goes, “Lord Move, or Move Me/Out of This Place of Complacency”… Don’t let me get away with being too content or satisfied with the status quo. Put a spotlight over the person who needs to hear from you today and give me a push in the right direction. May I speak the words you give me to say. Amen.
