The Visitor (#254 of 365+)

“Praise be to the LORD, for he showed his wonderful love to me when I was in a besieged city” (Psalm 31:21)

Joni felt really down when she was confined to bed because of the
flu but her spirits lifted as she watched a funny little bird on the feeder just outside her window. She didn’t know what type of bird it was but luckily a friend brought a bird-watching book to her house. They perused the pages together until they finally found it. It was called a titmouse!

That week turned out to be much more bearable than she thought it would be because she was able to have fun by learning the names of different bird species. As usual, the Lord was able to bring some good out of a bad situation, but this time he did it in such a unique and usual way. It took her mind off being miserable and also taught her how the Lord’s “grace” can show up in “various forms” (1 Peter 4:10). All she needed to do was simply keep a lookout for them.

This week I will try to keep my eyes open for those “visitors” God might send my way as signs of his generous grace.

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God” (Psalm 43:5 KJV)

Lord, your child is feeling very weary today. I thank you in advance for sending me something to strengthen my faith and put a smile on my face! Amen.
