Judging Scripture (#268 of 365+)

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of
the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:12-13)

Joni summed it all up in a few words: “God’s Word judges us; we don’t judge it.”

It’s a wonder how the Bible, the most popular and printed book of all time, could offend so many people. All the historical blood, gore, and sex aside... Some feel a personal slight when it seems to insult their gender or culture. Others disregard the complete authority of the Bible because it speaks against their chosen lifestyle, or challenges their points of view.

But no one has the right to pick and choose what sections of the Bible they want to keep or discard. It’s all God’s Word. God has never had to—nor will he ever have to—answer to political correctness or popular opinion. He is the Everlasting One! He knows everything and his Word cuts down deeply through to our heart’s hidden secrets with great surgical precision. Maybe that’s why they say “the truth hurts.”

Every part of the Bible is useful for instruction and reminds me of who I am today and who I would be without my Lord…

Father, thank you for protecting the integrity of your Spirit-breathed scriptures and for making the Bible available today like it has never been before in all of history. I embrace it in its entirety! I pray that our young people will discover for themselves all the treasures that are hidden within your Word. Amen.
