Objects of His Wrath (#159 of 365+)

“All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But
because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved” (Ephesians 2:3-5)

God’s wrath is the focus for the second day in a row. For many, the terrible consequence of sin is a difficult concept to grasp. We live in a culture that grows increasingly tolerant of perverse lifestyle choices every single day. But once again Joni clarified the reason to highlight God’s burning hatred against sin is to better convey his incredible love for sinners like us. As she explained, “Christ did not die in order to force God to love us; God the Father came up with the plan to rescue fallen man”.

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love” (1 John 4:16)

“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree’” (Galatians 3:13)

(Watch R.C. Sproul’s 5-minute video about justification and imputed righteousness)...

I thank you, Lord Jesus, for bearing the Father’s wrath against all my sin. You deserve all the honor, glory, and praise! Amen.
